Nicolas A. Re, CPP

President, Aerospace & Defense


Mr. Re has over 20 years experience in the commercial security and defense/aerospace industries including executive management, infrastructure development, operations oversight, and business development.  Nick joined Pinkerton Government Services, Inc. (now SCIS) through the acquisition of American Protective Services (APS) in January 2000. In his tenure with these combined organizations, he has worked in all management levels bringing innovation and leadership to the creation of the organization’s proven business model.


As a Program Manager on assignment with a large defense contractor, Nick built and managed a security workforce for multiple locations in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. His responsibilities included physical security oversight, training, personnel management, and customer relations. Since that assignment, he has served as Branch Manager in Fort Smith, Arkansas and in Fort Wayne, Indiana where he worked to develop existing business throughout the Midwest while building operational support for defense industry clients. For nine years, he served as Area Vice President for the Northern U.S and then two years as Vice President of Operations based in Springfield, VA. In addition to operations oversight, his contributions to infrastructure development have included national account management, human resources management, business development, refinement of corporate policy, state licensing, and training.


Nick is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP). He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix.


Nick’s professional affiliations include memberships in the National Classification Management Society, American Society for Industrial Security, the National Defense Industrial Association and various other industrial security awareness councils and associations.

James Brakebill

Vice President, Fire & Emergency Services


Chief Brakebill is uniquely qualified to serves as the expert technical advisor to both SCIS field operations and to our customers for code compliance, NFPA consult, EMS Protocols, business development, and service delivery.  He has managed industrial and municipal firefighters throughout his 30 plus years in fire and emergency services.  He is well experienced in all forms of structural fire suppression/fire protection systems, Aircraft Rescue Firefighting, as well as wildland fire control and fire prevention.


Chief Brakebill has an extensive background in education and training both academically and professionally.  In 1989 he earned a Master’s Degree in Emergency Management from National University in San Diego.  He has served as a member on the California State Fire Marshal’s Peer Assessment for Certification Evaluation (PACE I and PACE II) Committee and the Statewide Training & Education Advisory Committee (STEAC). Chief Brakebill is a CSFM Master Fire Instructor and currently serves as an instructor and Professor in Fire Technology at three community colleges, Program Director for Emergency Medical Services, and is an Instructor Trainer for the American Heart Association. In addition, he has co-authored two books on fire technology that are currently in use in the fire technology programs offered at various colleges.


He is currently a member of the Southern California Industrial Mutual Aid Organization, California Fire Chief’s Association, California State Firefighter’s Association, Aircraft Rescue Firefighting Working Group, International Code Council, Western Association of Fire Chiefs, the International Association of Fire Chiefs, Southern California Training Officer’s Association, California Fire Technology Director’s Association, National Fire Protection Association, and the International Association of Fire Service Instructors.

David Roy

Director, Global Support Services


Mr. Roy previously was employed with Hughes Space and Communications and Boeing Satellite Systems performing international export compliance and security services for satellite launches at overseas launch sites.


Dave joined SCIS in October 2001 as the Branch Manager for SCIS Satellite Launch Services Overseas Operations. He has 23 years’ experience in the commercial security and defense/aerospace industries with 19 of the 23 years supporting and overseeing overseas deployments and customized satellite launch support and other programs to meet the needs of our U.S. Customers and their operations in Canada, France, French Guiana, Italy, Japan, Kazahkstan, Russia, Romania and Taiwan.


He has worked with Globalstar, Iridium, L-3 Communications, Boeing Satellite Systems, Motorola, Space Systems Loral, Lockheed Martin, Orbital Sciences, International Launch Services and Raytheon at numerous overseas launch sites to help ensure that the Customers’ programs met or exceeded the specifics of the applicable U.S. Government Export licenses.


Dave is a certified Project+ professional (Comp TIA). He is a graduate of the Western Governors University and holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management. His professional affiliations include membership in the National Classification Management Society (NCMS).

Michael Runyan

Director, Sales


Mr. Runyan has assumed the Sales Director role for the division with over 14 years of experience in security operations, management and sales. Throughout progressive roles across several Securitas entities, Michael has supported or directly managed a number of the company’s largest accounts.


Michael began working for Pinkerton Consulting & Investigations (a Securitas company) in the Jakarta, Indonesia office in 2003.  There he managed and conducted a variety of investigative consulting work to include; fraud, theft, due diligence, executive protection and intellectual property protection. He conducted risk assessments for local and multinational businesses including Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) and other logistical security related compliance audits.


Upon returning to the U.S., Michael excelled as the Account Manager to the World Bank’s corporate security department. He played an integral role in developing and implementing a global security program which included a personal protection unit, analytical support team as well as globally based field security advisors.  Michael moved on to manage the Pinkerton Washington, DC office where he was responsible for all aspects of the company’s business operations and risk mitigation solutions for domestic and multinational clientele.


Michael joined the SCIS team in 2014 as the National Account Manager for a leading defense contractor. He helped to coordinate a 10% expansion of service while revamping quality assurance efforts and serving as the primary customer contact. Prior to joining SCIS, Michael spearheaded the successful transition and account management of a physical security contract with a multinational IT customer with over 60 locations for the Securitas USA’, Global and National Accounts division.


Michael holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan. In addition, he is ASIS Board Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and Physical Security Professional (PSP).

Barbara Maillet

Manager, Training Development


Mrs. Maillet has extensive experience in both Human Resources and Training Management. Since graduating from Alameda University with her Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Barbara has continued to enhance her skill sets gaining certification and accreditation in her field. She holds both PHR Certification and SHRM-CP Certification from the Society for Human Resources Management.


Serving in several HR positions with both SCIS and other companies prior to stepping into the role of Sector Manager of Training Development, Barbara is intimately with the time demands and training concerns of SCIS employees and our clients. Her previous experience includes supporting 6 branch offices and 3 district offices. As a Regional HR Manager for the SCIS Aerospace & Defense Sector, Barbara provided management oversight of HR policies and procedures, including training and compliance with government regulations and policies. The hands-on oversight and auditing of training in that role makes her an invaluable asset as Manager of Training Development.


Barbara’s affiliations include the Association for Conflict Resolution.
